Elephant Stuck In A Well Is Rescued And Reunited With Its Mother
Whether being and young and playing or not looking out for it, baby elephants get themselves into all sorts of trouble every now and then.
This baby elephant has gotten itself stuck in a well. The well is just deep enough for the baby not to be able to climb out by itself.
Thankfully, wildlife rescuers from the Amboseli Trust For Elephants were able to find the calf and pull it out of the hole.
The first thing they had to do was to shoo the mother away from the hole. This was clearly distressing for the mother; you could see the agitation of separating her from her calf had.
Once moved out of the way, the team were able to take the time to pull the baby out.
This was not easy, and not helped by the fact that they had only a rope and a 4WD as equipment.
Once the baby was able to be rescued, it ran straight for its mother.
he joyful scene as the two elephants ran for each other with dust being thrown up behind them was absolutely magical and priceless.
This is just another example of how social these creatures are.
